To Neighbourhood Watch Members in the LU1 Area particularly in Whipperley Ring and surrounding roads where thieves have been gaining access to properties with little or no security or when people leave open doors and windows whilst sleeping etc. Late at night and the early hours are the danger times. Police advice is to double lock all doors and close and if possible lock all windows at least on the ground floor when retiring for the night. Keep all keys and jewellery etc out of sight. Consider fitting an alarm system even if it only covers the ground floor. Please look out for the elderly in your area as this age group have been subjected to repeat burglaries. Please look out for your neighbours and report any suspicious activity to the Police
